Irvin L. Solt,
95, formerly of Kunkletown, and Palmerton, Pennsylvania, died late Wednesday evening, October 25, 2017, at the VA Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre. Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Charles A. and Mary M. (Behler) Solt.
Irvin was the owner/operator of the former Solt Shoe Repair, Palmerton, and Lehighton, for several years. An Army Veteran of WWII, he served with the 83rd Infantry Division in the European Theatre, achieving the rank of Pfc. Irvin was a member of the Order of the Purple Heart. He was also employed by the Forestry Service in Missouri. Irvin spent a great deal of time prospecting, and mining, and collecting artifacts throughout the United States. He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed traveling.
Survivors:
Daughter, Rosemary J. Whitmyer and companion, Lonnie L. Deiter of Brodheadsville. 3 grandchildren, Carl Jr., Michael, and Duane. 8 great-grandchildren. Sisters, Lily wife of Lloyd Miller of Palmerton, Viola Mallory of Idaho, and Pauline Brown of Aquashicola. Brothers, Clark of Palmerton, and, Milton of Bowmanstown. Nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sons, Howard in 2008, Clark Sr. in 2016, a sister, Mary, and brothers, Oliver, Charles, John, James, and Wilson.
Services:
11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 137 Fairview Street, Lehighton, PA 18235. Call, 10:00-11:00 a.m., Tuesday, in the funeral home. Officiating will be the Rev. Anthony P. Pagotto. Interment will be with Military Honors, and will follow at the Towamensing Cemetery, 3rd Street and Fireline Road, Palmerton, PA 18071. Online Condolences:
