James A. Scherer, 69, of Fireline Road, Palmerton, Lower Towamensing Township, died Monday evening, December 19, 2016, at Blue Mountain Health Systems, Lehighton Campus. He was the husband of Sandra E. (Goodhile) Scherer since April 20, 1968. Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Clayton and Minnie (Meinhart) Scherer.
James was employed as a general contractor for George T. Schmidt, Inc., for over 40 years, retiring in 2007. He was a member of Faith Alive United Methodist Church, Palmerton.
Survivors: Wife, Sandra. Daughter, Angela M. Scherer of Andreas. Son, Brian S. of Palmerton. 4 grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Taylor, Kyle, and Corey. Great-granddaughter, Madelyn. Sisters, Carol wife of John Hofacker, Darlene Scherer, Lorraine wife of Jim Bognar, all of Lehighton, Diane wife of Walter Smith, Pat wife of Roger George, all of Palmerton. Brothers, Maynard and wife Carolyn of Lehighton, LeRoy and wife Beverly of Palmerton. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Services: Memorial Services, 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Faith Alive United Methodist Church, PO Box 177, 678 Pine Street, Palmerton, PA 18071. Call, 1:00-2:00 p.m., Wednesday in the church, prior to services. The Interment will be Private. Arrangements are by Campton Funeral Home, Inc., 525 Delaware Avenue, Palmerton, PA 18071.
