James A. Handwerk

James A. Handwerk, 82 of Coplay, PA. passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Center in Allentown, PA. Born July 2, 1938 in Walnutport, PA, he was the son of the late Daniel Handwerk and the late Claudine (Dilliard) Handwerk. He was the husband of Evelyn L. (Hantz) Lokay - Handwerk with whom he shared 30 years of marriage this past September 22, 2020.

James a Northampton High School graduate continued his education at Penn State extension earning an Associates Degree in the Electrical field. He was last employed as a Maintenance Supervisor for the former Tarkett, Inc., Whitehall, PA. for 43 years before retiring. James attended worship at St. Peter's R.C. Church, Coplay, PA. He also enjoyed his time helping with pierogie making at the church.

Surviving along with his wife Evelyn are, daughter, Renda wife of James Cherry of Mesa, AZ, Step-son, Henry Lokay and wife Linda, Boulder, CO, sister, Annette McRell of Walnutport, PA; A granddaughter, Veronica Cherry, 3 Stepgrandchildren, Sarah Blythe, Kaitlyn Loptein, Zac, 1Great-grandchild, Michael James. He was predeceased by his first wife Lavada, a brother, Kenneth, sister, Jean Reichard, and grandson Jordan.

A Liturgy of the Word service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday April 9, 2021 at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 4 South Fifth Street Coplay, PA, 18037. The family will receive friends from 9:45 AM to 10:30 AM in the church prior to services. Future interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. The public is reminded to continue to observe social distancing guidelines, along with the wearing of facial coverings. Schisler funeral home, 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA. 18067, has been entrusted with his care and services.
