James Everett Kern, Sr., 87 of Northampton- E. Allen Twsp., PA. passed away peacefully at his home on Monday,
April 10, 2017. He was the husband of the late Joyce (Lazar) Kern who passed away in 2010. Born in Coplay, PA,
he was the son of the late James T. Kern and the late Mary (Everett) Kern.

James worked for the former Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 40 years as a bricklayer and electrician before retiring in
1991. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing in his quarry. Birdwatching and photographing wildlife were his
favorite pastimes on his farm in Seemsville. He served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps
from 1947 to 1950. In 1948, he was a member of the United Nations Staff engaged in supervising the application of
the Truce in Palestine under the authority of the United Nations Mediator on Palestine and the Security Council
Truce Commission, acting in the capacity of Mechanic.

Surviving are daughters; Deborah Evans, Diane Schoch, and son, James E. Kern, Jr.; 4 Grandchildren; Blake,
Cody, Kristen, and James; 5 Great-Grandchildren; Jacob, Brylee, Henry, Emily, and Leilani. He was predeceased
by a sister, Althea Sterner and a grandson Joel Evans in 2003.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119
Washington Ave., Northampton, PA. followed by a Military Honor Guard remembrance at the funeral home.
Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family, in Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown, PA.
