Jo-Ann Karmonick, 68, of Walnutport (Lehigh Twp.), passed away Monday evening, Dec 5, 2016, surrounded by family. She was the wife of James Karmonick, and they joyfully celebrated their 48
th
wedding anniversary on Nov. 30. Born in Beaver Meadows, Carbon County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Lucille (Libener) Rashko. Jo-Ann was a 1966 graduate of the Hazleton High School, and then was educated and trained as an x-ray technician at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hazleton. She was employed for many years as an x-ray technician for the late Dr. Alfred Stangl, a chiropractor in Whitehall. She held several other positions as well, and she and her husband taught their children the values of working conscientiously and thoughtfully, and to follow their example in being kind, generous and helpful to others. Jo-Ann was an active member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Berlinsville, for more than four decades, and a regular volunteer in many parish activities, including lay ministry, teaching, administrative and fund-raising. Jo-Ann also enjoyed volunteering with other community organizations, including the Catholic Charities Ecumenical Kitchen in Allentown and her son's Boy Scout Troop, Troop 15 at St. Paul's UCC Church in Cherryville.
Survivors: husband; son, Thomas J. of Walnutport; daughter, Jennifer A. Karmonick of Washington, DC and Northampton; granddaughter, Angelique N. Karmonick, fiancé Steven Snow and great granddaughters, Avalina, and Miya of Northampton; sister, Dolores, wife of David LaChette of McAdoo; brother, Paul and wife Marlene Rashko of Hazle Twp.; sister-in-law, Kathy Rashko of McAdoo, widow of brother Joseph Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Call, 7-8:30 PM Thursday and 9-10:00 AM Friday, Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA 18067. Interment, St. Nicholas Parish Cemetery, Lehigh Twp.
