Joan L. Lester

Joan L. Lester , 93 of Macungie, PA. passed away peacefully at her home, with family by her side on Saturday, February 22, 2025, in Macungie, PA. Born December 27, 1931 in Northampton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ray W. Anthony, Sr. and the late Leah E. (Reinert) Anthony. She was the wife of the late James C. Lester who passed away in June 2005.

Joan was a 1949 graduate of Northampton High School who married and raised her family along with carrying on a 3rd generation seamstress role at various mills in the textile industry throughout the greater Lehigh Valley for years. She was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church, Northampton, PA and a former member of Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, Allentown, PA. Joan was an avid bowler throughout the years, joining several mixed leagues at the Parkway Bowling Lanes, Allentown, PA. She also enjoyed playing cards to pass the time as well as being a football fan loudly cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Surviving are sons, James R. Lester(Elizabeth) of Yorktowne, VA and Scott R. Lester of Macungie, PA, daughters, Tami L. McGrath(Jack) of Macungie, PA and Kelley J. Lester of Allentown, PA, brother, Gary Anthony(Hilda) of Tecate, Mexico, sister-in-law, Carol Anthony, Northampton, PA, 5 grandchildren, a great-grandson, and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday March 1, 2025 at the Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA 18067. Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM prior to the services. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
