Joan K. Smith

Joan K. (Leickel) Smith , 89, of Third Avenue, Lehighton, PA, died peacefully early Tuesday morning, April 18, 2023, at Mahoning Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Lehighton.  She was the wife of the late Robert H. Smith who passed in 2007.  Born in Weissport, she was a daughter of the late Robert "Ruby" and Ruth (Schnell) Leickel.

Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker.  She enjoyed her stay at Mahoning Valley and being involved in the senior activities, especially bingo.  She attended the Lehighton Independent Bible Church.

Survivors: Twin daughters, Cheryl wife of James Hoppel with whom she resided, and Sharon Moyer of Parryville.  Sons, Robert and wife Michelle Gower of Lehighton, and Ronald and wife Lauren Gower of Summit Hill.  10 grandchildren, Shawn Lewis, Christopher Hoppel, Jason Hoppel, Robert Moyer, James Moyer, Jeffrey Moyer, Joshua Gower, Lisa Gower, Brian Hill, and Jennifer Wallace.  Many great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by sisters, Carol Schlier and Joyce Walck.
