Joan C. Volpe

Joan C. Volpe, 81 of Lehighton, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Mahoning Post Acute and Rehabilitation, Lehighton. Born January 16, 1945 in Franklin Township, she was the daughter of the late Harvey T. and Mary F. (Alkire) Ahner anf wife of the late John C. Volpe.

Joan enjoyed to sketch, paint, draw, and read. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Lehighton.

She is survived by son, David V. Balak of Bethlehem, daughter, Christine M. Horn of Lehighton, brother, Gary Ahner and wife Karen of Florida, sisters, Melba Kunkle of Franklin Township, and Gladys wife of Marvin Ivory of Franklin Township, grandchildren Kelly, Jordan Dylan, Nikole wife of Jose, Natalie, Aleshia, Stephen, and Amanda, great grandsons, Noah and Tucker, and a great granddaughter on the way. She was predeceased by son, Michael F. Balak, daughter, Brenda L. Balak, brothers, Harvey T. Ahner, Jr., Melvin C. Ahner and Robert C. Ahner, sisters, Margaret Mase and Marylou VanDale.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by the Miller Funeral Home, Lehighton, Pennsylvania.
