Joan A. (Yeck) Turko
, 81, of Willow Street, Olyphant, Pennsylvania, died peacefully Sunday evening, April 23, 2017, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She was the wife of the late Eugene M. Turko who passed in January. She was born a coal miner's daughter in the Fern Hill section of Olyphant, to the late John, Sr. and Eva (Motel) Yeck.
Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, who gave her love unconditionally. She was a devout and life-long member of Ss. Cyril & Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Olyphant, co-founder of both junior and senior Sodalities, and former member of junior and senior choirs. Joan was a 1953 graduate of the Olyphant High School, and the Felt & Tarrant Comptometer School. Before marriage, she was employed by the former B&G Garment Company, Olyphant.
Survivors:
Daughters, Joanne M. wife of Gary Kneal of Gainesville, Florida, Maria A. wife of David Slachtish of Olyphant, Teressa A. wife of Harold Schisler of Palmerton. Son, Andrew J. and fiancée Angela Fornaro of North Redington Beach, Florida. Grandchildren, Richard, Abigail, David, and Eva. Brother, Robert and wife Joan Yeck, of Moosic. Several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son, Eugene M., brother, John "Herby", niece and Godchild, Nicole.
Services:
Divine Liturgy, 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2017, at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, 135 River Street, Olyphant, PA 18447. Call, 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 27, 2017 in the church.
Parastas
, 7:00 p.m., Thursday in the church. Interment will be at the Parish Cemetery, in Peckville. Arrangements are by Campton-Schisler Funeral Home, Inc., 525 Delaware Avenue, Palmerton, PA 18071.
