John M. Andreas, 65, of Northampton, Pennsylvania, passed away on October 18, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Allentown, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 10, 1960, in Lehighton, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Nevin Andreas and Johanne (Merics) Andreas.
John shared 44 years of loving marriage with his wife, Darlene K. (Liggitt) Andreas. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, John was a man of deep faith whose life was defined by love, generosity, and service to others. He exemplified what it meant to put others first, always willing to help anyone in need. His faith was not simply something he professed, but something he lived each day through his kindness and selfless service.
A 1979 graduate of Palmerton Area High School, John dedicated more than 30 years to Salisbury Township, serving as the Public Works Director before retiring in February 2021. He was a devoted member of Bethany Church, where he invested in the lives of young people through the youth program and helped lead mission trips throughout the United States and to Belize. He also volunteered with Everlasting Life Ministry and the Allentown Children's Project, serving others and sharing his faith. Through his work, ministry, and everyday acts of kindness, John touched countless lives.
Above all, John treasured his family. He was a loving and proud father and an extraordinary Poppop who never missed an opportunity to show his grandchildren how much they were loved. His grandchildren never had to wonder how much they mattered to him. His love, encouragement, and presence created a legacy that will live on for generations.
Even in his passing, John's servant heart continued to give. Through organ donation, he offered hope and the possibility of more time to others. This final act of generosity reflected the selflessness that defined his life.
Surviving John are his beloved wife, Darlene; his son, John Andreas, and wife, Gretchen, of Clarion, Pennsylvania; his daughter, Kristy Young, and husband, Joshua, of New Tripoli, Pennsylvania; his grandchildren, Rileigh and Weston Andreas and Harper and Maddux Young; many beloved nieces and nephews; granddaughters of the heart, Kylie and Meghan Schlegel; and his uncle, William Merics and wife Terrie. He was predeceased by his sister, Debra Andreas.
John leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service that will continue through his family and the countless lives he has touched. His family finds comfort in the faith he lived by and the promise that this goodbye is not forever.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Bethany Church, located at 1208 Brookside Road Allentown, PA 18106.
