John P. Dougherty

John P. Dougherty , 77 of Northampton, PA passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at his residence in Northampton, PA. Born Sunday, January 27, 1946, in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late William and the late Anne (Bailey) Dougherty. He was the husband of Penny (Williams) Dougherty, with whom he shared 40 years of loving marriage.

After graduating high school, John enlisted in the Air Force. He served for 4 years (1964-1968) during the Vietnam War, and earned the rank of SGT. After being Honorably Discharged, he attended Fordham University and earned his Bachelor's in General Studies. John was employed by Lipton Tea Co. for many years as a manager. Afterwards, he was employed by Bristol-Meyers-Squibb Company, where he was an IT manager.  He spent over 20 years there before retiring. In his free time, John really enjoyed spending time on his computer.

Survivors: along with his wife Penny, are sons, John L. Dougherty of Yonkers, NY and Stephen Dougherty and wife Dana of Pemberton, NJ, daughter, Veronica Dougherty of Brooklyn, NY, stepsons Gregory Williams and wife Rachel of Charlotte NC, and Eric Williams and wife Melissa of Bethlehem PA, grandchildren Emily, Elizabeth, Ryan, Lillian, and Jake, sister, Rita Dougherty of Bronx, NY.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00AM on August 10th, 2023 at Schisler Funeral Home. 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA, 18067, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 9:00Am until the time of the service. Interment will follow at 1:30PM at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville PA 17003.
