John R. Genevese

John R. Genevese, 80 of N. Catasauqua, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born September 21, 1941 in Northampton, PA, he was the son of the late Adam A. Genevese and the late Anna M. (Madea) Genevese. He was the husband of Sylvia A. (Almond) Genevese with whom he shared 61 years of marriage last August 6, 2021.

John worked for the Phoenix Forging Co., Catasauqua, PA for 38 years until retiring in February 2002. He also worked as a Security Guard for 39 years with the last 23 years serving through Graham Security Police, Inc. John was a member of Queenship of Mary R.C. Church, Northampton, PA.

Surviving along with wife Sylvia are daughter, Rose Ann M. wife of Ronald G. Matika of Northampton, PA, sister, Barbara wife of Barry Batz of Northampton, PA; 2 grandchildren; Christopher and wife Elyse Matika and Meagan Matika both of Northampton, two great-grandchildren; Mia and Cameron. Sister-in-law; Mrs. Mildred Genevese, Allentown, PA, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Albert Genevese and sister, Virginia Fodor.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday March 30, 2022 at Queenship of Mary Catholic Church, 1324 Newport Avenue Northampton, PA 18067 with the Rev. Fr. Patrick Lamb officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM prior to the Mass in the Church. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery, Northampton, PA. Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave. Northampton, PA 18067 has been entrusted with his arrangements and care.
