John H. Hartman , 87, was born to Herman D., Sr. and Verna B. (Stout) Hartman in Robesonia, Berks County. The family moved to Lehighton where he attended school during his teenage Years. One of John's first jobs was as an independent truck driver. He later teamed up with his brothers to build a number of homes in the Lehighton area with their father's lumber yard supplying the materials. After a few years, the brothers parted ways and John went back to truck driving for a short time. Soon after he started his own company which he called Hartman Enterprises which built several commercial buildings in the area including his own commercial rental properties along Blakeslee Blvd. John later opened a car wash and truck stop at the current site of The Flower Patch.
