John E. "Jackie" Otto , 87 of Jim Thorpe, PA, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Carbon Campus in Lehighton. Born December 31, 1935, in Mauch Chunk, PA, he was the son of the late John H. Otto and the late Dorothy (Glase) Otto. He was the husband of the late Claudine R. Otto with whom he shared 64 years of loving marriage.

John was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Jim Thorpe, PA. He graduated from the Immaculate Conception High School, Mauch Chunk, PA. After high school he served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959, earning the rank of SFP2. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he came home and started working at the Monk Fur Company, Jim Thorpe PA as a puller and then manager. After 27 years of dedication to the Monk Fur, the company closed their doors, and John went to work at the Palmerton Hospital in the Maintenance Department. He worked there for 18 years before retiring in 2003.

John loved to collect & restore old cars. He was a member of the Fairview's Hose Company, Jim Thorpe Sportsman Club and the Mauch Chunk Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed collecting military memorabilia, hunting and building multiple Military models. Above all, he loved his family and especially cherished his time with all his grand, great-grand and great-great grandchildren. Also, which he loved to give a nickname to call each of them by.

Survivors: Daughters, Florence "Angel" Houser, Debra wife of Paul Hoherchak, Jane wife of John Leslie and Alyce Anne Spanial all of Jim Thorpe, PA. Son, John C. and wife Gloria Otto of Jim Thorpe, PA. 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. Sister Judith, wife of Gerald Nederostek of Jim Thorpe, PA, and survival nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, Edward M. in 1992 and sister, Janice Teichert in 2022.
