John J. Mayers

John J. Mayers, 83, formerly of Northampton, PA, passed away on Sunday December 15, 2019 at The Gardens for Memory Care in Easton, PA. Born December 14, 1936, he was the son of the late Charles and Sarah (Heffelfinger) Mayers.  He was the husband of the late Helen Ann Mayers, who passed away in 2004.

John worked for 27 years as a laborer for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation before retiring in 2001. John was a longtime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Bath, PA.  He was also a longtime member of the Bath Lion's Club and one of the founding members of the Petersville Rod and Gun Club, Bat, PA.  He enjoyed spending his spare time fishing and enjoying the outdoors.  John also volunteered with Boy Scout Troop 47 (Bath, PA) and with the Crayola Factory.

Surviving are brother, Robert Mayers, Sister, Irene Flamisch, companion, Lisa Feick, and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by 9 brothers and sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 23, 2019 at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton, PA 18067.  The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM, prior to the services at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Bath, PA.
