John "Uncle John" J. Miksits
, 78, of Cherryville Road, Northampton, Pennsylvania, died suddenly early Saturday morning, March 25, 2017, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg Campus, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Nancy E. (Koehler) Miksits since September 1, 1952. Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Edward and Rose (Szoke) Miksits.
John was employed by the Parkland Area School District as a high school English teacher for 35 years. He also coached both JV and Varsity Football for several years. John was a 1956 graduate of the Northampton Area Senior High School, and a graduate of Kutztown State Teachers College. He served in the Marine Corps, Vietnam Era, and achieved the rank of Lance Corporal. An avid fisherman, John was a life member of the Lappawinzo Fish and Game Protective Association, Allen Township.
Survivors:
Wife, Nancy. Sister, Agnes Penny of Northampton. Brothers, Louis and wife Carol Miksits, Frank and wife Pat Miksits, all of Northampton. Sister-in-law, Barbara wife of Allen McIntryre of Harleysville, Montgomery County. Special nephew, Timothy and wife Carla McIntyre of Slatington. Numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Rose Steffie, and brothers, Edward, and Joseph.

11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Schisler Funeral Home, Inc., 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA 18067. Call, 9:00-11:00 a.m., Wednesday, in the funeral home. Interment is at Greenwood Cemetery, Atlas Road, Northampton, PA 18067.
