John Marshall Schocken, 87 of Walnutport, PA. died on Monday, June 6, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born December 28, 1928 in New York, NY, a devoted son to his loving mother Minerva (Lerinan) Schocken. He was the husband of 51 years to his high school sweetheart, the late Barbara Jean (Haines) Schocken who passed away in December 2005.
John was an Emergency Services Supervisor for the N.Y.C. Housing Authority for over 25 years before retiring in 1990. A devoted member of St. Margaret's R.C. Church, a former baseball Coach, and member of the V.F.W. Post all in Queens, NY; He was a loving husband, devoted father, and dedicated grandfather, the epitome of what any man should strive to be. He served his country as a Corporal in the Army during the Korean War.
Surviving are son, Richard Schocken and wife Diane of Massapequa Park, NY and grandchildren: Dana, Rene, and Sela; son, Mark Schocken and wife Cindi of Bethlehem, PA and grandsons: John Marshall, II and Michael; daughter, Debra wife of Joseph Butto of Walnutport, PA and grandchildren: Joseph, II, and Brianna. We were truly blessed. You will always be in our hearts.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday June 13, 2016 at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church, 1152 Oak Road-Berlinsville Walnutport, PA. 18088 with the Rev. Msgr. Thomas A. Derzack officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Indianland Cemetery, Cherryville, PA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Sunday, June 12, 2016, at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA. and Monday, June 13, 2016 from 10:30am to 11am in Church prior to the mass.
