John (Jack) W. Weber , 85, of Northampton, PA, passed away June 5, 2024, at St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem, PA. Born January 30, 1939, in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of George W. Weber and Estelle (Furlong) Weber. He was married to A. Cynthia (Bridgers) Weber for 45 years.

John graduated from St. Benedict's Collegiate Institute in 1957, then attended Canisius College, graduating with a Bachelor of Science majoring in economics. Drafted into the Army in 1962, he honorably served his country in the jungles of Augusta, GA, earning an Expert Rifle badge and Letter of Commendation, among other honors. He then began a 40-year career in the Bethlehem Steel empire, where his tireless work ethic was rewarded as he worked his way up from the mailroom to Human Resources Manager. Highlights of his career include leading the Human Resources outreach to support impacted employees during plant closures, earning an Employee Benefit Specialist Certification, and attaining the honor of a coveted parking spot in the executive garage underneath Martin Tower.

John enjoyed participating in athletics, including golf, racquetball, basketball, and running, achieving such accolades as "the oldest and slowest member of his racquetball team" and "runs faster than a nun." He coached East Allen Township soccer during the years his children played, and he was a ping pong legend at church youth group meetings. John was an avid reader, enjoying history, westerns, science fiction, and fantasy. He was also a lifelong learner, enjoying audio courses, researching new topics, and sharing his knowledge with others through impromptu pop quizzes. He was a devoted volunteer with the American Association of University Women, where his love of organizing shined during preparations for their annual book fair. The book fair was one of the highlights of his year as he chaired the Science Fiction and Fantasy section and regaled young and old with his vivacious humor and flirtatious ribbing.

Doting on his family, John cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Amanda Weber of Pittsburgh, PA, daughter, Elisa Weber of Tallahassee, FL, four grandchildren, Johnathan, Nathaniel, Silas, and Eleanor Weber, and sister, Nancy Weber of Buffalo, NY. He was pre-deceased by brother, James Weber, and sister, Mary-Ellen Blocher.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1533 Springhouse Rd., Allentown, PA, on Saturday, June 29 at 11:00 am, followed by a luncheon where all are invited to share fellowship and remembrances. As John prioritized humor in his life, the family invites you to also celebrate John's legacy by sharing laughter and joy with others.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the scholarship fund for American Association of University Women. Checks may be written to AAUW Bethlehem, 414 Kenilworth Ct., Bethlehem, PA, 18018-6260.
