Joseph J. Kanas, Jr., 86, of 2nd Avenue, Walnutport, PA, died suddenly Monday, July 14, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg Campus, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Carol H. (Miller) Kanas since November 5, 1960. Born in Slatington, he was the son of the late Joseph J., Sr. and Hattie (Reitz) Kanas.
Joseph was employed as a cabinet maker by the former Lehigh Lumber Co., Bethlehem. He was a 1957 graduate of the Northampton High School. A master craftsman who specialized in woodworking and antiques, he could build anything from hand, from carved birds, kitchen cabinets, and even a full-sized sailboat, which he enjoyed at Leaser Lake Park, New Tripoli. Joseph enjoyed spending time with his family, riding bike, helping and advising on projects with friends.
Survivors: Wife. Daughter, Jennifer wife of Tony Bauer of Lehigh Township. 3 grandchildren, Eric, Amy, and Aaron. He was predeceased by a daughter, Sherrie A. Smith in 2022.
