June E. Wernett

June E. (Martin) Wernett , 96, died peacefully on April 22, 2023 in the Gracedale Nursing Home, Nazareth. She was the widow of Robert F. Wernett who passed in 2021. They shared 75 years of marriage.

Born on June 30, 1926 in Allentown, June was a daughter of the late Thomas A. and Kate I. (Kemmerer) Martin. She is survived by a loving family including daughters Connie Benninger and her companion Donald Tyson of Allentown and Roseann and her husband Dean Yelles of Northampton; a brother Bradford Martin of Northampton and sisters Nancy wife of John Koeppen of Allentown and Barbara wife of Clarence Rehrig of Allentown; six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and eight great-great- grandchildren.

She was also predeceased by her daughter Patricia E. Bankos, three brothers, Thomas, Ronald, and Charles; and three sisters Joyce Musselman, Jean Haas, and Geraldine Miller.

During World War II, June was a "Rosie The Riveter" welding and supporting our troops in the service. After the war, she raised her family and worked as a seamstress. She enjoyed gardening, swimming , and loved her weekly bingo games.

A celebration of life for Robert and June Wernett will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1335 Old Carriage Road, Northampton, PA 18067 on Saturday, May 13, 2023. Calling hour 10am, church service 11am with fellowship and luncheon following.
