Lewis E. Schulz II, 77 of Walnutport, PA passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.

Born April 5, 1943, in Fort Knox, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Lewis E. Schulz and the late Marion F. (Kooperman) Schulz. He grew up in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, and attended Carson Long Military Academy in New Bloomfield. Lew enlisted in the Air Force at 18 years old. While in
the Air Force, he attended Penn State University and completed his studies at Boise State in Boise, ID.

Surviving along with his beloved wife of 57 years, Louise (Wilkie) Schulz are four sons, Lee Schulz and his companion, Tem of Charles Town, WV; Terry L. Schulz, and wife Bernice of Bonita Springs, FL; Christopher Schulz of Naples, FL; and Courtney Schulz and wife Irene of Mason, OH; and four grandchildren, Natalia, Matthew, Sophia, and Andrew.

All who knew Lew knew of his dedication to service. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1962 and served for almost 23 years in various roles. His career highlights included Special Agent in the Office Of Special Investigations and a B-52 Tail Gunner during the Vietnam War and subsequent
years. He ultimately achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. MSgt. Schulz retired from the Air Force in 1984 as First Sergeant of the 86th Comptroller Squadron at Ramstein Air Base, where he supervised more than 750 airmen in Ramstein, Germany. Lew's service to others continued after the Air Force when he transitioned to a second career as the Director of Veterans Services for Collier County, Florida. Through that role, he dedicated himself to helping veterans and their families receive the benefits and support they needed and deserved. He also was dedicated to ensuring all who represented veterans had the highest quality professional training; that is why he worked with other veterans leaders to found the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers. Through this organization, he developed training curricula and facilitated training for countless other service officers. He tirelessly lobbied the United States Congress and the Department of Veterans Affairs to ensure all veterans were represented and received the help and benefits they were entitled. One of the accomplishments he was most proud of was his work on women veterans issues. He helped author policy to ensure women veterans received the specialized physical and mental care and treatment they needed and deserved.

Lew and Louise moved to the mountains of eastern Pennsylvania to retire and enjoy the serenity and beauty of Blue Mountain, where he resided for 18 years until he passed.

Chapel Services and Interment with full Military Honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA at a future date.
