Lloyd J. Liggitt

Lloyd J. Liggitt, 88 of Walnutport- Lehigh Twsp., PA. passed away peacefully on Friday, January 5, 2018, at Kirkland Village in Bethlehem, PA. Born June 18, 1929 in Washington County, PA, he was the son of the late Erwin and Margaret (Sly) Liggitt. He was the husband of Jean R. (Dieter) Liggitt who passed away January 2005.
Lloyd was a Life Insurance agent employed by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co, Bethlehem, PA for 25 years before retiring in 1985. During his insurance career he earned the Metropolitan Life Insurance President's Award. In addition to he was owner/operator of the former Northampton Lumber Co. from 1978-1990. He was a 60 year member of Bethany Wesleyan Church in Cherryville where he served on the Church board for several years. He had 50 years of perfect voter attendance. He served his country as a Corporal in the US Army from 1946-1949.
Surviving are sons, Leon J. and wife Sharon of Muncy, PA, Larry L. and wife Rosina of Summit Hill, PA, Lyle J. of Easton, MD, Todd R. and wife Melissa of Danielsville, PA, daughter-in-law Mrs. Joyce Liggitt; 9 grand children; 11 great grand children. He was predeceased by son, Ronald E., four brothers, Oliver, Francis, Willard, Robert, three sisters, Hazel Kellenberg, Ellen Goodrich, Esther Taylor.
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Bethany Wesleyan Church, 675 Blue Mt. Drive Cherryville, PA 18035. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the services in the church. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Pennsville Cemetery, Northampton, PA. Arrangements are entrusted to the Schisler Funeral Home, Northampton, PA.
