Lois J. Shimmel , 72, of Palmerton, PA, passed away February 4, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg in Bethlehem, PA. Born September 19, 1951 in Clearfield, PA, she was the daughter of the late Gerald Mullen and the late Eva (Snyder) Mullen. She was the wife of Elwood Shimmel, with whom she shared 50 years of loving marriage.
After graduating from Clearfield High School, and obtaining her Associates Degree in Computer Science. Lois started her working career at Lehigh Cordage as a twine winder. After 5 years she was hired by B. Braun Medical, where she was a 3rd shift production supervisor for 35 years. In her free time, you could often find her traveling across the country and overseas, making sure she filled up on her favorite Starbucks double blended Caramel Frappuccino at each stop. Lois also enjoyed her countless motorcycle adventures as she and Elwood were members of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. Lois enjoyed doing crafts, especially wood working, and baking mountains of Christmas cookies and her famous fudge. Lois cherished her large collection of cows and Longaberger Baskets but even more so the time she spent with her daughters and grandchildren.
Survivors: Surviving along with her husband, are daughters, Wendy, wife of Tim Weighknecht of Northampton, PA, Karrie Shimmel of Walnutport, and Kellie, wife of Michael Curry of Bethlehem. 3 grandsons, Tanner and Connor Weighknecht, and Jonathan Shimmel. 2 sisters, Connie Smith and Shirley Killian, and 3 brothers, Jack, John and Mert Mullen. Lois was predeceased by her brother Leonard Mullen.
