Loretta M. Smith

Loretta M. (Dawe) Smith , 81, of Lehighton, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 5, 2023, while holding her husband's hand, at St. Luke's Hospital - Carbon Campus in Lehighton.  Born June 24, 1942 in Shenandoah, PA, she was the daughter of the late Phillip Dawe and the late Martha (Wheat) Dawe.  She was the wife of Norman Smith, with whom she shared 47 years of loving marriage.

Loretta was a seamstress by trade, working for Scotty's Fashions of Lehighton, and various other sewing mills in the area.  She also worked at the Post Office, and enjoyed volunteering.  In her free time she dedicated herself to the Ashfield Playground Association, helping make a safe space for kids to play and coordinating community events.  Loretta loved to bake, cook, and spend time at home beside her family.

Survivors: Husband, Norman. Son, Mark Michlovsky and wife Shelly.  Daughters, Regina Ziegenfuss, Sandra Stauffer and husband Glenn.  Loretta lovingly raised and cared deeply for Shana Dunbar, Brook Allen, and Sessa Lenhardt.  Sister, Lynne Bromhead.  8 grandkids, and 8 great-grandkids.  She was predeceased by multiple brothers and sisters, and grandson, Dustin Stauffer.
