Lorie A. Dotter

Lorie A. Dotter, 91 of Northampton, PA, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Sacred Heart Assisted Living by the Creek, Northampton, PA. Born April 4, 1935 in Red Lion, PA, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Albert G. W. and Alice C. (Hess) Schlegel.

Lorie was a 1952 graduate of Milton High School, she continued her education earning a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Moravian College, Bethlehem. She later earned her Master's and Bachelor's Degree in Education from Lehigh University. Lorie also received her Principal Certificates and a degree in Special Education at Kutztown University. She was a Special Education Teacher for the Northampton Area School District serving in all the schools throughout the District at various times, for 27 years before retiring in 1998. She also was a substitute Special Education Teacher for 14 years. In 1976, Lorie researched, then proposed a summer school program, which she then ran for four years. She was a member of Grace U.C.C. Church, Northampton. She enjoyed singing, and was proud to have sung with multiple choirs throughout the valley including Grace UCC. Lorie was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Rose Croix Chapter #235, Northampton, where she was a Worthy Matron for 3 separate terms, along with having held various other leadership roles throughout the years. She was a member and held various positions for White Shrine of Jerusalem #27, Allentown, PA and Amaranth Court #148 of Bethlehem. Lorie was also quite the crafter, and was often seen offering her wares at many craft fairs throughout the greater Lehigh Valley for years.

She is survived by daughters, Suzanne L. Kutzler of Walnutport, and Catherine G. Conley of Northampton, son, Kenneth H. and wife Lisa Dotter of Walnutport, 13 grandchildren: David, Richard, Rachel, Nicholas, Timothy, Erin, Beth, Anthony, Sean, Shane, Krista, Kaylene, Shea, and 15 great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her son David II in 2023, brother Wallace A. Schlegel in 2016 and granddaughter Cortney Killeen in 1997, and son-in-law Kenneth I. Conley in 2021.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Grace U.C.C. Church, 902 Lincoln Avenue, Northampton, PA 18067, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Forks Church Cemetery, Stockertown, PA. Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA 18067 has been entrusted with her care and arrangements.

Contributions may be made to the church memorial fund in care of the church or the funeral home.
