Mabel A. Hower

Mabel A. Hower, 99 of Pen Argyl, PA. died Thursday, June 23, 2016, at VNA Hospice House @ St. Luke's in Bethlehem, PA. Born February 25, 1917 in Northampton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Arthur G. and Lizzie J. (Frederick) Ruch. She was the wife of late George T. Hower with whom she shared 54 years of marriage until his
passing in November 1992.

Mabel was a homemaker and farmers' wife who was dedicated to her family. A life long member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Kreidersville were she served as a Sunday School teacher for 47 years and was a member of the Choir for 50 years. She also volunteered her time at Gracedale Nursing Home, Nazareth for 30 years and
recognized for 5,950 hrs. of service.

Surviving are sons, Allen C. Hower and wife Hart of Plainfield Twsp., PA; Thomas L. Hower and wife Patricia of Bath,PA; Arthur G. Hower and wife Nancy of Plainfield Twsp., PA; daughter, Eileen E. wife of James Sandt of Plainfield Twsp., PA, sisters, Mrs. Helen OIdenwelder of Bethlehem, PA; Mrs. Margaret Fogel of Bethlehem, PA.; Mrs. Ellen
Cole of Bethlehem, PA and Mrs. Jeanette Smith of Nazareth, PA; 13 grand children; 40 great grand children; and 32 great-great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by her two brothers, William and Franklin Ruch.

A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday June 29, 2106 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church - Kreidersville, 1335 Old Carriage Road Northampton, PA.18067. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at Bartholomew-Schisler Funeral Home, 211 E. Center Street, Nazareth, PA, and Wed. June 29, 2016 9:30am to 11:00am prior to the services in the church. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Allen Township, PA.

Contributions: In lieu of flowers, may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church memorial fund or V.N.A. Hospice of St. Luke's both C/O the funeral home.
