Margaret I. Fogel

Margaret "Nanny" Irene (Ruch) Fogel , 100 of Bethlehem, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 30, 2024, at her home in Bethlehem, PA. Born March 8, 1924, in Northampton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Lizzie (Fredrick) Ruch.

Margaret grew up on the Ruch Farm. She was a graduate of Northampton Area High School. Margaret then went on to work for The Bethlehem Steel for over 30 years. She loved to spend a night out enjoying a Grasshopper, dancing to Polka, and doing The Jitterbug. Some of her favorite trips were spent fishing in Canada with her long-time friend Joe.

In her later years, Margaret enjoyed reading a good book or magazine, going for a walk, and often getting ice cream. Even at 100 years, there was still the occasional request for her favorite drink, a Grasshopper. Margaret proudly cherished every moment spent with her granddaughter, and watching her great-grandchildren grow up.

Margaret will always be remembered for being strong-willed, her independence, and her stories about the farm and dancing. Most of all, she will be remembered for the love she had for her family, friends, and everyone who called her Nanny.

Survivors: daughter Karen Schlener, granddaughter Carly Snyder, grandson James Schlener, great-granddaughter Mariah Solis, great-grandson Donovan Solis, sister Helen Odenwelder, and her many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Schisler Funeral Home Northampton, PA, has been entrusted with her arrangements.
