Marjorie C. Alderks , 96 years, 11 months and 5 days passed from this life in the evening of November 27, 2003. Marjorie Ann was the seventh of eight children born to Joe Porter Carmichael and his wife Mamie (Oberleiter) Carmichael. She was born December 22, 1926, in Onalaska, La Cross, Wisconsin. She grew up and attended school in Pardeeville, Wisconsin. She graduated from the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa with a degree in Chemistry and Biology. Upon graduation she taught high school Chemistry and biology in Ackley, Iowa before marrying the late Frederick Alderks in 1951. The couple made their first home in Milan, Tennessee. Their two children were born in Tennessee. They lived in several different states including Ohio (Cincinnati), New Jersey,  Florida, and then to Pennsylvania. They moved and mostly stayed in Tunkhannock, PA after moving there in 1965. While in Cincinnati, Marge returned to school at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio to earn certification in elementary education. She taught in numerous elementary schools in different states to know the schools her children were attending. She also organized and taught a private kindergarten when a local school had to close the public kindergarten. Marge was active in the PTA in Ohio and served as an officer. She later worked as a Director of a Senior Citizen Center in Dallas, PA.

She also joined and taught craft classes under the jurisdiction of the University/County in PA.  She was active in her church serving as the President of the Women's Organization and teaching Sunday School. She, along with her family, joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions teaching classes to children, teens, and adults. She also served in many different capacities in the Women's Organization. She and her husband served in the Washington D.C. Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as full time ordinance workers, directors and supervisors.Marge and Fred moved to Moravian Hall Square in Nazareth, PA in 2000. Marge served on various committees and on the Residence Council twice. She was also a past member of the Board of Directors of Moravian Hall Square. Marge was also the Director of the Family History Center in Scranton and then again in Nazareth. She was very interested in genealogy and privately published genealogies on seven of her and her husband's ancestors.

She loved to travel and has been all over the world visiting all the continents.

She is survived by her two children, David Frederick and his wife Kathy of Midland, Texas and Cathie Alderks of Rockville, Maryland, three grandchildren, David O. of Provo, Utah, Sarah of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Peter and wife Jenne of Seattle, Washington. She is also survived by five great grandchildren, Anika, Belle, and Elizabeth in Seattle and Heidi and Mary in Utah. She is predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Kenneth and Robert, and five sisters, Elizabeth, Myrtle, Dorothy, Ruth and Kathleen.

Funeral Services to be held 11:00 AM Monday December 4, 2023 at the Church Of Jesus Christ Of the Later Day Saints, 161 Rose Inn Avenue, Nazareth, PA 18064. Family will receive friends from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM in the church. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Nazareth, PA. Bartholomew-Schisler Funeral Home, Nazareth, PA has been entrusted with her care and services.
