Mark Reitz

Mark Reitz, 89, of Whitehall (Egypt), PA died on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Whitehall Manor. Mark, son of the late Allen Reitz and Hazel (Snyder) Reitz was born on February 11, 1932 in Lynnport, PA. He was married for 66 years to Doris J. (Handwerk) Reitz.

Mark received his education at Snyder's One-Room Schoolhouse, Slatington High School and Lehigh University, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry. He was employed by Lehigh Portland Cement Company for 40 years. He remained an active member of REMOL-Retired Employees of Lehigh. He served our country in the US Army for two years. He is a former member of the Whitehall Township Zoning Board as well as the Whitehall Township Planning Commission. He was a member of Greenleaf Lodge #561 F & AM. He was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, where he has served on the church council.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Robert and wife Carol Jo, of Whitehall, PA, son, Dale and wife Eileen of Scottsdale, AZ, five grandchildren, Adam, Nathan, Ali Jo, Matthew and Natalie, four great-grandchildren, all of whom were very special to him. Sisters, Jean Weida and Diane Wendling, wife of Frank and brother, Richard and wife Charlotte.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 2, 2021 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 4331 Main St., Whitehall, PA 18052. The family will receive friends and family from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the services in the church. Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave. Northampton, PA 18067 has been entrusted with his care and arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mark's memory to the Whitehall Township Public Library c/o the funeral home.
