Mary A. Horvath, 95, formerly of Franklin Avenue, Palmerton, and Sacred Heart Assisted Living, Northampton, PA, died Sunday, February 7, 2016, at Gracedale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Nazareth, PA. She was the wife of the late Stephen M. Horvath, Jr. who passed in 1988. Born in Bowmanstown, she was a daughte of the late Thomas and Mary (Morawski) Zachweiya.
Mary was employed as a finisher for the former Nicki Fashion Company, Palmerton for 30 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the I.L.G.W.U. Mary was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Palmerton. She volunteered as past secretary for the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, financial secretary for the Windish Lodge Branch #1, and the Senior Center, all of Palmerton. Over the years, Mary enjoyed participating in the Carbon County Senior Olympics.
Survivors: Daughter, Barbara A. wife of David Derhammer of Walnutport. Son, Stephen M., III and wife Donna of Green Lane, Montgomery County. 4 grandsons, Stephen IV, Jeffrey, David Jr., and Jonathan. 8 great-grandchildren. Nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Thomas J. in 1992, and a brother, Joseph M. Zachweiya.
Services: Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 243 Lafayette Avenue, Palmerton, PA 18071. Call, 9:30 - 10:30 a.m., Thursday at Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Avenue, Palmerton, PA 18071. Interment is at the Parish''s New Cemetery, Stoney Ridge Road, Palmerton.
