Mary B. Mackey

Mary Briget Mackey, 87, passed away peacefully at Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation on April 25, 2020.  She was born in Co. Donegal, Ireland on December 24, 1932.   She was the daughter of the late James and Maryann Haughey.  She was the widow of Charles P. Mackey Jr.  They were married for 33 years.  Mary is survived by her sons Paul Mackey (Michelle) of Hutchinson, NJ, Raymond Mackey of Hazelton, PA, and Gerald Mackey (Heather) of Telford, PA, 5  grandchildren,  Nicole Collier-Dick (Anthony), Shana Collier, Erin Mackey, Sean Mackey and Thomas Mackey, 2 great- grandchildren, Emily and Jerry.  She is also survived by 3 sisters, Sr. Eileen Haughey of Co. Donegal, Ireland, Anna Maloney (Charles) of London, England, and Brigid McDermott (Frank) of Philadelphia, PA, Brother, Sean Haughey of Miami, FL.  Nieces, Mary Barton (Joseph), Catherine McDermott and many other nieces and nephews in Ireland and England.  She is preceded in death along with her husband and parents by her daughter Lynn Ann Torrone (Michael) of Palmerton, PA, and a brother, Patrick Haughey of England.

Mary was born and raised In Co. Donegal, Ireland but moved to America in her early twenties.  She spent time as a maid and quickly met and married the only man she would ever love.  Her sister, Brigid, followed soon after to America and together they raised their families in Pennsylvania.   Anyone who knew Mary, knew her family along with her strong Roman Catholic faith, was her guiding light.  Very few are privileged enough to know someone in this world as sweet and genuinely kind as Mary.  Her blue Irish eyes, sweet soul and kind smile will be missed beyond measure.

A mass and celebration of life will be announced in the future at the convenience of her family, Campton Funeral Home, Palmerton, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements.
