Mary Elizabeth Mertz

Mary Elizabeth Mertz, 103 of Nazareth, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at Moravian Hall Square, Nazareth.

Born December 14, 1917 in Nazareth, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Minnie (Beers) Broad and wife of the late Robert C. Mertz.

She was employed by Former Blue Mountain Consolidated Water Company. She also worked at H&R Plastics and as a Crossing Guard. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Nazareth and was a 1936 graduate of Nazareth High School. Mary was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and of the former LORA Club of Nazareth.

Surviving are sons, Edward B. and wife Elaine Mertz of Bushkill Township, Robert N. and wife Nancy Mertz of Nazareth, and daughter, Linda J. Michael of Nazareth, grandchildren, Deborah and husband Donald, Edward, Robert,Jeffrey and wife Ann, and Erin, great grandchildren, Ryan, Alyssa, and Brenna, and great-great grandson, Grayson. She was predeceased by brothers, Lambert Broad and Marlyn Broad, and sisters, Myrtle Broad and Bertha Snyder.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at the Bushkill Center Cemetery, Bushkill Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bushkill U.M. Church or St. John's Lutheran Church, both in care of the Bartholomew-Schisler Funeral Home, 211 E. Center Street, Nazareth, Pennsylvania 18064.
