Melvin S.J. Everett, 88, of Interchange Road, Lehighton, Franklin Township, Pennsylvania, died peacefully on Monday evening, October 9, 2017, at the Summit Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lehighton.  He was the husband of Anna C. (LaRose) Everett since November 25, 1951.  Born in Franklin Township, he was a son of the late Sterling J. Everett and Bertha (E. (Hoats) Everett-Moyer.

Melvin was the owner/operator of Mel Everett Furniture Store, Lehighton, for over 50 years, and was in the furniture and upholstery business for over 65 years.  He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Lehighton, and served on the church consistory for 3 year terms.  He was the first PIAA Certified Track Official in Carbon County, for baseball, basketball, track and football - serving for 7 years.  He was also the Time Keeper for over 50 years, since 1955, for the Lehighton Indians High School Football.  He was awarded the 2005 Homecoming Honorary, Lehighton.  Melvin was a member of the Lehighton Lions Club, Beaver Run Road, and Gun Club, Lehighton, and Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company, and for 25 years a treasurer for the Cub Pack #187, in Lehighton.

Survivors: Wife, Anna.  Daughters, Melanne wife of Bruce Feiner of Seneca, South Carolina, Susan J. wife of Donald Silfies, Lori G. Everett and companion Donald Ginder, all of Lehighton.  Son, Drew and wife Julie of Palmerton.  7 grandchildren, Jennifer, John, Marc, Chel-Ana, Jan Melvin, Aleksander, and Benjamin.  10 great-grandchildren, Mark, Joel, Alicia, John, Timothy, Shane, Katie, Cheyenne, Trey, and Tyrin.  Sisters, Phyllis wife of George Zaraza of Coopersburg, Valance wife of Richard Weidner of Northampton, Eleanor wife of George Szacska of Lehighton.  Brothers, Milford and wife Dorothy Everett of North Highlands, California, Arlington and wife Patricia Everett of Lehighton, David and wife Sandra Everett of Slatington, Gerald and wife Patricia Everett of Jim Thorpe.  Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was predeceased by sisters, Joyce Silfies, Lavonne Beaver, brothers, Richard Everett, and Alburtus Moyer.
