Merland "Sue" Kay Steigerwalt

Merland "Sue" Kay Steigerwalt, 68, of Best Avenue, Walnutport, PA, died Monday evening, October 5, 2026, at St. Luke's Hospital, Carbon Campus, Lehighton. She was the longtime companion to Randy S. Schlier with whom she resided. Born in Lehighton, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Geraldine (Carrigan) Gombert.

Sue was employed in the dietary department of the former Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton. Previously, she worked as a seamstress for the former Indigo Jean Co., Lehighton. She attended Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lehighton, and enjoyed volunteering for the Meals on Wheels Program. Sue was a 1976 graduate of the Lehighton High School. She loved being outdoors, camping, and spending time with her grandchildren.
