Michael G. Madea, 91 of Cherryville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family. Born February 27, 1927 in Whitehall- Cementon, PA, he was the son of the late John and Susan (Mlock) Madea. He was the husband of Dorothy A. (Musselman) Madea with whom he shared 72 years of marriage this February 15, 2018.
Michael was self-employed as a Tile and Carpet installer, previously working for Edmund O' Long Linoleum and Tile Company for over 40 years before retiring in 1992. Before that he worked for the former Ironton Railroad of Hokendauqua as a Brakeman and Mechanic for 14 years. He was a member of Zion Stone U.C.C. Church, Kreidersville. Michael enjoyed the great outdoors and was an avid Hunter, he loved working in his yard, tinkering in his tool shed, building Conestoga (covered) wagons for friends and family and spending time with his family. He is most known for his signature dress attire, which includes wearing the western style shirts, cowboy hat and boots, big belt buckles, boleros, and his Indian and turquoise jewelry.
Surviving along with his wife are son, David Madea and wife Valerie of Northampton, daughter, Karen wife of Ronald Spangler of Walnutport, daughter-in-law, Dagmar Hartman of Slatington, sisters, Mrs. Louise (Lucy) Gregus of Bethlehem, Mrs. Elsie Adams of Coplay, and Mrs. Martha Guzzi of Easton, PA; 5 grandchildren: Erika Unger, Stacie Spangler, Cortney Madea, Nicole Lohrman, and Jarad Madea, 5 great-grandchildren, Michael, Emily and Zachary Unger; Madison and Brynn Lohrman and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Michael R. Madea in 2003 along with 7 sisters, Anna, Helen, Pauline, Susan, Elizabeth, Cecelia, Ethel, and 6 brothers, John, Albert, Thomas, Joseph, Frederick, and Donald.
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday April 17, 2018 at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave. Northampton, PA. 18067. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the services. Interment will follow in Zion Cemetery, Northampton, PA.
