Michael C. Smyth, Sr., 85 of Northampton, PA, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg in Bethlehem, PA. Born June 30, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of Samuel and Josephine Smyth. Mike was the husband of Christina (Mirque) Smyth, with whom he shared 63 years of loving marriage.
After he graduated high school, Mike enlisted in the Coast Guard. During his 4 years of active duty, and 2 years in the reserves, he achieved the rank of SK2, E-5, before being honorably discharged. Once returning home, he enrolled in West Chester Community College, where he earned his Associated Degree in Business Marketing. Mike entered the work force as a sales associate for the Gulf Oil Company, working his way up to sales manager in his 41 years of service before retiring in 2006. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, and in his spare time Mike loved to collect Gulf and other Oil Company Memorabilia.
Surviving along with his wife are children, Theresa Salerno and husband David of Bethlehem, PA, Michael C. Smyth, Jr., and wife Carol of Bethlehem, PA, Peter Smyth and wife Laura of Ramsey, NJ, and Veronica Charles and husband Frank of Easton, PA, grand children David Jr., Thomas, and Olivia Salerno, Michael Smyth III, Caitlyn, Lucas and Lilyana Charles, great grand children Dominic and Camila Salerno.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday August 27, 2026, followed by Military Honors, all at Schisler Funeral Home, Northampton, PA, 18067. The family will receive relatives and friends from 12:00 PM, up until the time of service.
The family welcomes floral arrangements, or Memorial Contributions may be given in his memory to the Northampton VFW Post 4714, care of the funeral home.
