Michael J. Stritz, Sr.

Michael J. Stritz, Sr., 79, of East Princeton Avenue, Palmerton, Pennsylvania, died Saturday morning, May 1, 2021, at Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lehighton.  He was the husband of the late Rosemary E. (Hensel) Stritz who passed in 2018.  Born in Hazleton, Luzerne County, he was a son of the late Andrew, Sr. and Mary (Petuch) Stritz.

Michael was employed as a crane operator/Supervisor, by the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation, for over 28 years.  He formerly attended St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Palmerton, and was a member of the Holy Name Society.  A 1959 graduate of the Hazleton High School, he later served in the Marine Corps, Vietnam Era, achieving the rank of PFC, and also served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, Lehighton Barracks, Peacetime, achieving the rank of SP5.  Michael was a member of the Marine Corps League #284, Bethlehem, VFW Palmerton Post, and the Bowmanstown Rod and Gun Club, participating in the Dart League for many years.  An avid fisherman and hunter, he enjoyed butchering and making sausage.

Survivors: Daughter, Donna A. wife of Chris Ahner of Palmerton.  Son, Michael J. Jr. of Manama, Bahrain.  3 grandchildren, Derek, Dustin, and Melissa.  Patricia wife of Edward Moon of Weatherly.  Brother, Lawrence and wife Susan of Coaxville.  Nieces and nephews.
