Nancy M. Herzog

Nancy M. (Szakacs) Herzog , 85, of Peter Avenue, Palmerton, Towamensing Twp., died peacefully early Friday morning, June 9, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Inpatient Hospice Care, Allentown.  She was the wife of Joseph L. Herzog, Sr. since June 28, 1958.  Born in Palmerton, she was a daughter of the late Alex, Sr. and Helen (Taskovic) Szakacs.

Nancy was employed as a secretary/admin. for HMR-Carbon, Lehighton.  Previously, she worked in the same capacity for Hager Furniture Co., Palmerton, the former W.T. Grant Store, Palmerton, and the former Keystone Lamp Co., Slatington.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Palmerton.  Nancy was a 1954 graduate of the Palmerton High School.  She was treasurer for the Palmerton Area Historical Society, and recorder for the Bowmanstown-Parryville Lions Club.  She served as Cub Scout Leader and Girl Scout Leader, and was a member of the Ruby Belles Red Hat Society, Palmerton.

Survivors: Husband. Daughter, Sharon L. wife of Bruce Hettler, Sr. of Palmerton.  Son, Joseph L., Jr. and wife Donna of Towamensing Twp.  4 grandchildren, Melisa, Greg, Amber, and Bruce Jr.  Great-grandchildren, Kylie, Lucas, Charlotte, Lincoln, Jaiden, and Mason.  Brother, Alex and wife Louise Sakas of Bethlehem.  Nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by sister, Carolyn Butz.
