Nancy L. Owens-Hillegass,
89 of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, died Sunday, October 29, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital & Health Network in Bethlehem. Born September 13, 1928 in Sayre, PA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Harold Cook and Janet Campbell Butters(Conacher) Cook. She was the wife of the late Warren S. Owens who passed away in 1979. She then met Merlin R. Hillegass in 1981, they were married for 28 years until his passing in 2009.
A Graduate of Sayre High School, she continued her education at the Robert Packer Hospital school of Nursing in Sayre, PA, earning her RN degree. She worked for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Washington D.C. then working for the Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown. She finished her career in nursing as the night shift supervising nurse for 16 years at the Good Shepherd Home, Allentown retiring in 1983. She volunteered her time for Meals on Wheels offering over 2000 hours. She was long time member on Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Allentown
offering her time as a Sunday School Teacher and Choir member. She was a member of the Christians Women's Club, and the Angel Club. She enjoyed traveling the United States.

Surviving children are Stephen Owens(Brenda), Cynthia Bruch(Gary), Karen Galgon(Anthony), Brenda Rathgeber, Lynn Zelko(Robert), Jeanne Schwoyer(Rick), Ronald Hillegass, Diane Schaller(Harvey), sister, Carolyn Bender (Carl), 14 Grandchildren: Natalie, Jamie, Rebecca, Julie, Sarah, Abby, Skylar, Douglas, Owen, Claire, Audrey, Matthew, Joshua, and Alyssa. 13 Great-Grand children: Micah, Elizabeth, Derek, Ryan, Kylee, Landon, Brock, Maxwell, Lucian V, Rachel, Lillian, Aurora, and Trent. She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Ramsay Cook, and grandson, Tyson Galgon.
Services:
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday November 3, 2017 at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 2336 S. 9th Street, Allentown, PA, 18103 with the Rev. Esdras Seda officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the services in church. The Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA 18067 has been entrusted with the arrangements. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Slatington, PA. Online Condolences:
