Orpha M. Lakatosh, of Whitehall, Pennsylvania, peacefully passed away at the age of 98 on Friday, January 20 at Country Meadows of Leader Heights, York, Pennsylvania. She is remembered as a wonderful, caring woman who adored her family and animals, and spent her life helping others.
Her priority of helping others is exemplified by her career path. Orpha was a secretary for the American Cancer Society in Allentown, for over thirty years before retiring. At home, she was a cat lover and an avid reader. She enjoyed word games and crossword puzzles. She also loved music and ballroom dancing with her husband.
Orpha's primary enjoyment came from spending time with her family and friends. Visits with her grandchildren and great grandchildren truly made her day. She spent a lot of time later in life reminiscing about her travels with various family members.
She was the daughter of the late Granville and Luella (Reppert) Miller, wife of the late Joseph A. Lakatosh, Jr., and mother to the late Larry J. Lakatosh.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Samantha J. Prince, of Halifax, PA, grandsons, John Lakatosh, Christopher A. Lakatosh, and Eric D. Lakatosh, all of Red Lion, PA, and great grandchildren, Theodore, Cassidy, Zachary, Jazmyn, Amelia, Izabella, Alexis, and Adalyn.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30am on January 28 at Fairview Cemetery, Cherryville Road, Northampton, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Alzheimer's Association, both in care of the Schisler Funeral Home 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA 18067.
