Pearl E. Steigerwalt

Pearl E. Steigerwalt , 98, formerly of Germans Road, East Penn Township, and the Lehighton High Rise, died on Friday evening, February 24, 2017, at the Summit Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lehighton, Pennsylvania.  She was the wife of the late Rollin B. Steigerwalt who passed in 1986.  Born in Mahoning Township, she was a daughter of the late Amby and Annie (Ebberts) Hettler.

Pearl was employed as a seamstress for various garment mills in the Lehighton area for many years.  She was a member of Ben Salem United Church of Christ, Lehighton.  Later, after retiring, she was the neighborhood baby sitter, helping families, and caring for many children.

Survivors: Daughter, Iris D. wife of Paul Womer of Kempton.  Son, Alton K. and wife Geraldine Steigerwalt, of Lehighton.  5 Grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.  Several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by daughter, Nina I. Getz in 2002, an infant daughter, and son, James R. in 1962.  She was also predeceased by granddaughter, Jennifer in 2015, and a sister, Florence Fink, and brother, Clayton.

Services: Funeral Services at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at Miller Funeral Home, 137 Fairview Street, Lehighton, PA 18235.  Call, 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, in the funeral home.  Interment will follow at the Ben Salem Church Cemetery, East Penn Township.
