Peggy J. Benfield

Peggy J. Benfield, 66 of Nazareth, PA, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Center in Salisbury Twsp., PA. Born January 1, 1954 in Bethlehem - Fountain Hill, PA, she was the daughter of the late Henry Kocher and Bernice (Minnich) Kocher who resides in Nazareth. She was the wife of Jay A. Benfield with whom she shared 46 years of marriage this past May 18, 2020.

Peggy was a 1971 graduate of Easton High School who furthered her education earning an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Northampton Community College, Bethlehem. She was last employed as a secretary for Easton Temple of Peace Church before retiring. She was a longtime member of St. John's U.C.C. Church, Nazareth, PA. where she was active with the Choir, a Bell Ringer, Editor and Photographer for the church Newsletter, office volunteer, former Sunday School teacher, the wedding coordinator, member of the Church Partnership Committee, and a Stephen minister. She was also active with the Lehigh Valley Amputee support group, where she was a certified peer visitor.

Surviving along with her husband and mother are daughters, Karen F. Benfield of Nazareth, PA and Debra A. wife of Kenneth Park of Albrightsville, PA, son, Kevin C. Benfield and wife Doris of Nazareth, PA, sister, Linda A. Kocher and companion Richard Whittemore of Bethlehem, PA; 4 grandchildren; 2 great granddaughters. She was predeceased by brothers, William and Lee Kocher.

A private funeral service and interment will be held for family. Friends and family may call Tuesday July 21, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Bartholomew-Schisler Funeral Home, 211 E. Center Street Nazareth, PA. 18064. Public is asked to respect social distances along with facial coverings.
