Peter Kochmaruk

Mr. Peter Kochmaruk, Sr., 97, who lived most of his adult life in a home he built at Hahn's Dairy Road, Palmerton, PA, died early Monday morning, February 5, 2018, in the Adventist Hospital, Clearlake, CA.  He was born in 1920 to Steve and Anna Kochmaruk in Palmerton, PA.  He met his beautiful wife, Mary Honchar, and they were married on September 19 1941.  They shared 72 years of marriage together - a remarkable fete in this day and age.

After his wife Mary's death in April 2013, he moved to California to be closer to his daughter Mary and son-in-law, Daniel Tanner.  Peter served his country honorably in the Army during WWII as an auto mechanic.  He was stationed in the Aleutians of Alaska.  Peter was president of the St. George's Russian Orthodox Church, Palmerton, PA, for many years and did everything from grounds keeping, maintenance to the church, financial work and altar boy.  In his 20's, Peter started his long career at the NJ Zinc Company in Palmerton, PA, where he retired as a General Foreman.  After his retirement at age 62, he was called back to do consulting work on how to fix the machinery, and how to make the processing more efficient.  While working at NJ Zinc, he also did odd jobs like driving the local transit bus and building several homes in the area.  Peter loved to spend time with his family and friends.  He was an avid golfer, enjoyed gardening, music and reading.   He particularly loved nature and all it's beauty.  He was the neighborhood go-to man when lawn mowers and other small garden equipment needed fixing.

Survivors: Daughters, Mary wife of Daniel Tanner, Belle and her son, Nathan.  Son, Peter and wife Camille Kochmaruk.
