Phyllis M. Bock, 91, of Nazareth, PA, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021, at Moravian Hall Square, Nazareth. Born June 30, 1930 in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Ray Earl and Estella M. (Wirebach) Sherman and wife of the late Richard G. Bennett and the late James A. Bock.
Phyllis was an Elementary and Reading teacher for the Ferguson-Florissant School District, Missouri, for twenty years before retiring in 1997. She graduated from West Chester State College in 1952 and earned her Masters in Education from William and Mary College in 1976. She also taught in Easton, Kennett Square, Marietta, GA, Smyrna, GA, and Newport News, VA, teaching for a total of 36 years. She was a member of St. Brigid Episcopal Church, Nazareth. Phyllis leaves behind a legacy of her art, in the form of heritage and fanciful quilts created over many decades. She was known for her staunch support of the environment and supported many like minded organizations.
Survivors: She is survived by daughters, Katharine L. wife of William Rich of California, Christine P. wife of Ross Magladry of California, and Carolyn A. wife of Cliff Whitley of Missouri, son, Richard E. and wife Joy Bennett of Missouri, sister, Susan S. Uecker-Bittner wife of David Bittner of Nazareth, niece, Amanda Miernicki, nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by brothers, Larry R. Sherman and David R.
Sherman.
Services: The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM followed by an 11:00 AM memorial service, all on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Bartholomew-Schisler Funeral Home, 211 E. Center Street, Nazareth, Pennsylvania. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Nazareth.
