Phyllis M. Meckes

Phyllis M. Meckes, 89 of Lehighton, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022, at the Summit at Blue Mountain Health Systems in Lehighton, PA.

Born January 17, 1932 in Northampton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Albert Bartholomew, Sr. and the late Joyce (Leiby) Bartholomew. She was the wife of the late Kenneth Meckes who passed away in January 1973.

Phyllis was a homemaker all her life caring for her family. She worked for 10 years as a film inspector for the former Guardian Photo of Allentown before retiring in 1987. She was a member of Greenwalds U.C.C. Church, Allentown, PA. She was also a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star Rose Croix Chapter #235, Northampton, PA.

Surviving are son, Keith A. Meckes of Reading, PA, daughters, Cheryl J. wife of Walter Garrett of Buena Vista, VA, Karin G. wife of Alan Lowe of Lexington, VA, and Rochelle B. German and companion Joseph Arce of Allentown, PA, ; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a grandson, David A. Lowe in 2007, her sister, Althea Bartholomew, and brother, Albert Bartholomew, Jr.

A Funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM on Tuesday January 11, 2022 at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave. Northampton, PA 18067 with the Rev. Judy K. Brandon officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Northampton, PA.
