Raymond R. Haydt,
90, formerly of Allen Street, Lehighton, Union Hill, Pennsylvania, died Monday morning, May 21, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital-Gnaden Huetten Memorial Campus, Lehighton. He was the husband of the late Jean M. (Smith) Haydt who passed in 2010. Born in East Weissport, he was a son of the late Adam A. and Dora A. (Schott) Haydt.
Ray was employed by Lehighton Oil and Heat as a burner tech for 20 years, retiring in 1989. Previously, he was employed by the former Hontz Oil Company, Lehighton, and as a head loom mechanic for the Hazleton Weaving Company. After retirement, Ray worked as a funeral director's assistant, at Miller Funeral Home, Lehighton, for many years. He was a lifelong member of Jacobs United Church of Christ, Weissport, where he was instrumental in the pork and sauerkraut dinners, a leader in youth fellowship, and volunteered as a past Cub Scout Leader Pack #87. He was a 1945 graduate of the Lehighton High School. Ray was a charter member and past president of the Franklin Township Lions Club, earning the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. A 32nd Degree Mason, he was a member of the Lehighton Lodge #621 F. and A.M., and Lehigh Consistory, Valley of Allentown. Ray was a chaperone on many Las Vegas Senior Trips for Rader Travel, Lehighton, and a vacation organizer for several Franklin Township Seniors.
Survivors: Sons, Drue E. and wife Jan Haydt of Mahoning Township, Glen A. and wife Elaine Haydt of Weatherford, Texas, and, Eric D. and wife Jill Haydt of Wernersville, Berks County. 5 grandchildren, Adam, Shane, Matt, Kevin, and Mallory. 7 great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Earl, Willard, Kenneth, Walter, "Kelly", and James.
Services:
Memorial Services, 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Jacobs U.C.C., 138 Franklin Street, Weissport, PA 18235. Call, 9:00-11:00 a.m., Saturday in the church. Masonic Services, 10:45 a.m., Saturday in the church. Interment is at Lehighton Cemetery Company, 4th Street. Arrangements are by Miller Funeral Home, 137 Fairview Street, Lehighton, PA 18235.
