Richard C. Andreas

Richard C. Andreas , 94, of West Princeton Avenue, Palmerton, PA, died peacefully early Monday afternoon, May 6, 2024, in his home.  He was the husband of Mrs. Jovonne R. (Wertman) Andreas.  Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Oliver C. and Hattie M. (Mertz) Andreas.

Richard was employed as a machine operator by the Mack Trucks Corp., Allentown, for over 34 years, retiring in 1987.  Later, he worked security for the Palmerton Police Dept., at the former Palmerton Hospital, and local sporting events.  Richard served in the 2nd Army, Korea, QM Co., achieving the rank of PFC.  He was a life member and past commander of the VFW, Post #7134, Palmerton, life member of the Palmerton Ambulance Corps., former #2 West End Vol. Fire Co., Palmerton, and the former Palmerton Fire Police.  An avid sports enthusiast, he enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys Football and New York Yankees Baseball.

Survivors: Wife.  Daughters, Linda J. Andreas of Allentown, Mary L. Eschbach of Bowmanstown, and Kelly L. Terruta of Kunkletown.  Goddaughter, Thressa Connolly.  4 grandchildren, Chad, Kristin, Chaise, and Takoda.  6 great-grandchildren.  3 Godsons, Sal Jr., Chris, and Carl Jr.  Numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by stepson, Raymond Hartranft, grandson, Terry Lee Jr., in 2004, and sisters, Florence Borbe, Thelma Bonser, and Romaine Schleicher, as well as brothers, Ronald, Miles, Carl, Hampton, and Wayne.

Services: 6:30 p.m., Thursday, May 9, 2024, Funeral Services with Military Honors, Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Avenue, Palmerton, PA 18071.  Call, 5:00-6:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.  Interment, 9:30a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2024, Towamensing Cemetery, 3rd Street and Fireline Road, Palmerton.  Online Condolences: www.schislerfuneralhomes.com .
