Richard L. Berger, 72 of Wind Gap, PA, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026 surrounded by family in the home of his daughter in Allentown, PA. Born December 11, 1953 in Roswell, New Mexico, he was the son of the late Leroy Berger and Carol (Stadler) Berger of Wind Gap, PA. He was the husband of Bonnie (Anderson) Berger with whom he would have shared 20 years of marriage this June 20.
Following graduation, Richard went to work at Collins and Aikman in Pen Argyl, then went on to work at The Allentown State Farm in Weaversville. Later, for the former Allentown State Hospital as a maintenance worker in the boiler plant for 30 years until retiring in 2006. Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing and being in the great outdoors, along with the yearly clambakes. He also enjoyed spending time at the cabin with his best bud (brother) Greg, along with other family and friends, and long walks with his beloved dog, Max.
Surviving along with his wife Bonnie are mother Carol and longtime companion Donald “Potta Don” Rafferty, daughters, Tracey Hough and husband Kyle of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Ms. Tricia Schroeder of Allentown, PA, brother, Greg Berger and wife Kim of Stroudsburg, PA, sister, Cynthia Chapman and husband Chris of Bath, PA; 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Step-daughters, Laurie Morgan and partner Erik Arnott of Nazareth, PA and Michelle Hepner and husband Scott of Northampton, PA and 3 step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sister, Mrs. Debra Fraizer in 2003.
A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday April 3, 2026 at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave. Northampton, PA 18067. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM prior to the services. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be in his memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
