Richard A. Smith, 88 of Allentown, PA, formerly of Whitehall, PA died on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Phoebe Home in Allentown, PA.  Born September 10, 1933 in Northampton, PA, he was the son of the late Milton R. Smith and the late Esther F. (Nause) Smith.  He was the husband of the late Orchys R. (Kohler) Smith who passed away in July 1997.

Richard was a graduate of Northampton Area Senior High School, who was last employed as a Facilities Management - Supervisor for PP & L Electric Co., Allentown, PA for 36 years before retiring in 1994.  He was a past Council member of the former St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Whitehall, PA and was presently a member of St. Paul's U.C.C. Church, Northampton, PA. Richard was a member of the F.A.& M. Chapman Lodge #637, Northampton, PA, a 32nd Degree Mason with Lehigh Consistory Valley of Allentown, PA, and a member of the Rajah Shriners, Reading, PA.  Richard was a long-time member and former Chief of the former Laurel Fire Co., Whitehall-Cementon, PA, he was very active with many of the local firefighters groups including, being a member and former Vice President of Four County Fireman's Associations, local level Instructor for PA Fire Academy 20 years, Lewistown, PA, member of International Association of Fire Service Instructors, formerly serving on the Northampton County Community College Board of Fire Technology for 20 years, a former member of the National Fire Protection Association for 15 years, and a life member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs.

Surviving are daughters, Holly C. wife of George J. Stitts, Jr. of Northampton, PA and Terry L. wife of Eugene A. Kovalchick of Southampton, PA; 3 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert W. Smith.

A Funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday November 5, 2021 at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave. Northampton, PA, 18067. There will be no public viewing. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Northampton, PA.
