Robert C. Bortz

Robert C. Bortz, 91, of 2nd Street, Lehighton, Pennsylvania, died peacefully Saturday, August 24, 2019, in his home.  He was the husband of the late Marian F. (Dotter) Bortz who passed in February 2019.  Born in Parryville, He was the son of the late Edgar M. and Emma S. (Knappenberger) Bortz.

Robert was employed as Chef/Food Service Department of the former Strickland Resort, Mount Pocono.  He was also employed in the same capacity by Mount Airy Lodge, Hideaway Hills, Terrace Restaurant, Effort Diner, and the Split Rock Resort.  Previously, he was employed at the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation.  Robert attended Lighthouse Baptist Church, Lehighton.  A 1946 graduate of the Lehighton High School, he later served his country honorably in the Navy, WWII Era, achieving the rank of S1/c.  Robert enjoyed baking, listening to classic country music, and his early years, hunting and fishing.

Survivors: Daughters, Beverly J. wife of Robyn Williams, and, Connie Bortz, all of Lehighton; Lana wife of Terry Bailey of Plainfield, IL.  Son, Timothy and wife Cathy Bortz of South Amboy, NJ.  14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  Nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by son Robert W., a sister, Edna, and brothers, Thomas and Walter.

Services: 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Miller Funeral Home, 137 Fairview Street, Lehighton, PA 18235.  Call, 1:00-2:00 p.m., Wednesday in the funeral home.
